JANUARY 2023

2 Minute Read

Hi, there,

In my random attempts to garner feedback about the newly christened blog I am writing, I might have sent you links to various entries over the past few weeks. Having now lost track of which links I sent to which readers, I am consolidating this week’s request for feedback at the risk of repetition.

In my January 5 entry, I imagined a way to stop time long enough to consider some truths about my life with a little more care than I might otherwise take. The introduction of such a hack will come in handy when I later write about the kinds of truth worth critical examination.

In my January 12 edition, I recall a two-entry moment from a basketball game I once refereed when, for me at least, time stood still as I reflected on why in the world I would have blown my whistle at a pivotal moment in a tournament game. (You might have heard me tell that story, and one of you was on the court when it happened. I’m sorry to report it is not an account of the time I canceled a game in its second half to stop a brawl. I’m saving that one for later.)

(For anyone interested in why I began this writing project, you can read about it in my inaugural post of November 10.)

If you have been generous in your feedback, of whatever stripe, I can’t thank you enough for the time you took to comment. I consider this exercise a kind of public schooling, with me as the pupil going to school in front of you, the public.

If, on the other hand, you are already weary of my blather, please say so–truly–that I might, with a flourish and a shout, remove you from the misery I have un-solicitously caused.

And if you are receiving an email like this for the first time, and your spam filter hasn’t already sniffed it out, please proceed as you see fit.

Cheers!

Scott
